Fab Festival México 2024: Fabricating Equity

Andrew Lamb and Antonio Anaya will be hosting workshops, working groups, and ‘FabBlasts’ at Fab Festival México 2024. Their 5-minute ‘FabBlasts’ will cover topics like the use of FabLabs as a tool for social integration for vulnerable groups, open catalogue business models for Makerspaces, and how to use the Internet of Production to get the most out of the network of your FabLab. Their workshops and working groups will cover data collection for distributed manufacturing resources, and the resilience of FabLabs even under extreme conditions. The events being held by the Internet of Production are as follows:

Stall: Internet of Production Exhibition – 04/08/24 – 10:00-14:00

Workshop: Data collection for Distributed Manufacturing Resources - 06/08/24 – 14:00-18:00

This workshop on data collection for distributed manufacturing resources aims to find and evaluate new use cases, explore various data collection tools, and understand how collecting open data enables maker networks to develop further into resilient small economies.

Working Group: Humanitarian Working Group & Resilient FabLabs – 06/08/24 – 16:00-18:00

This working group last met in Bali and there have been many developments in the humanitarian and disaster relief work of FabLabs. After updates from around the world and from the Resilience Collective and Humanitarian Making, there will be a discussion on how FabLabs can be resilient even in extreme conditions. The working group will publish the ideas as a guide on www.humanitarianmaking.org and elsewhere.
